Samanta Chandra Sekhar Award is the first award of its kind instituted by the Government of Odisha in the Department of Science & Technology. The award is named as Samanta Chandra Sekhar Award after the famous astronomer scientist of eminence of the State and is given each year for outstanding research contribution in Science & Technology.
