- Abstract:
- The present invention provides a process for the extraction of cherry red dye characterized in that it is extracted from a new source Terminalia muelleri belonging to the family Combrataea . Terminalia muelleri fruits were collected from Lucknow. Dried and powdered fruits were extracted using ethanol followed by extracting using a non toxic solvents such as water. The extract thus obtained was concentrated under controlled temperature and pressure to provide cherry red dye which was stable for a long period.
